Hello my name is Myranda but my Muslim friends call me Mariam. I am a mother to 4 boys and wife to a wonderful Iraqi. He has shown me so much throughout the 8 years we have been together.
I was born in Memphis,TN to a couple of crazy redneck parents. Not redneck racist but redneck country. I grew up both in Memphis and on a farm in McNairy County. I am as southern as you can get but my mother always taught me right and told me we all bleed red. No one color or religion is better than the other.
When I met my husband I was 24 and had a 4 year old son Dylan. He was working in a convenience store and I had just lost my Grannie. He was really good looking but I never knew what he was saying when he was talking to his boss. I asked one day where he was from and he told me Iraq. Now keep in mind this was 2004. Most peoples reaction would have been, "OMG!" I simply said Cool. See my mother raised me to know no color and never judge anyone based on someone else's actions. I know that once I got to know him I loved him. He is a great father and husband who has made me a better person. As he told me stories of his childhood, I wept. I felt compassion towards the Iraqi people the rest of America were dubbing terrorist. More on that later.
I came to Islam in 2005 after we were married. I never felt more at peace or more feeling in my life. So welcome Ya'll to the Redneck Islama Mama!
